World Map

Markers are approximate regional locators for the entries in this atlas. They do not represent territorial extent, political borders, community boundaries or population. Traditions appear independently: no lines join them, because no single origin is claimed.

Hover or focus a marker. Points are approximate regional locators, not territorial claims — and no lines connect them, because no single origin is asserted.

Location confidence

Each point is a regional indicator only. Many entries cover hundreds of distinct communities across the area shown.

Living borders

Peoples move, are moved, and live in diasporas and cities. A static point cannot represent that, and does not try to.

Indigenous names first

Where a community's own term is documented it leads the entry; the English label is secondary throughout.
